Vacuómetro… ¿Qué es?
Un vacuómetro es un instrumento que mide la presión negativa (vacío) dentro del múltiple de admisión de un motor. En el caso de carburadores de competición, el vacuómetro se utiliza para diagnosticar y ajustar el rendimiento del motor, especialmente en lo que respecta a la sincronización de múltiples carburadores o la afinación del ralentí y la mezcla.
¿Qué mide exactamente?
El vacuómetro mide el vacío en milímetros de mercurio (mmHg) o pulgadas de mercurio (inHg). Este vacío es generado cuando el pistón baja en la carrera de admisión con la mariposa parcialmente cerrada, creando una presión menor a la atmosférica.
¿Para qué se usa en motores con carburador de competición?
- Sincronizar carburadores múltiples (como en motores con doble cuerpo o dos carburadores dobles):
Para que todos los cilindros trabajen con la misma cantidad de mezcla aire-combustible, el vacuómetro ayuda a verificar que todos estén absorbiendo la misma cantidad de aire en ralentí o a bajo régimen. - Ajustar el tornillo de mezcla:
Se regula el tornillo hasta lograr el máximo vacío estable, lo que indica la mezcla más eficiente (ni muy rica ni muy pobre). - Diagnóstico del motor:
Variaciones en el vacío pueden indicar problemas como:- Válvulas que no cierran bien.
- Pérdidas por juntas o mangueras.
- Problemas en el encendido.
- Sincronización de distribución deficiente.
